My Early Years on the Family Farm

My curiosity for adventure began in three unlikely places: the family farm, the Boy Scouts of America and my high school’s FIRST robotics team.  This is definitely a unique combination.  Growing up I spent a great deal of time with family that was took place on a farm.  I loved working outdoors.  I loved animals and I loved the feeling of accomplishment after a long day of work.  It may not sound like paradise to everyone but I loved being with family, building towards an end goal and celebrating small accomplishments together.  Growing up helping my grandparents on their farm really set the stage for my outlook on life.  I loved it. I loved the outdoors, the animals, the problem solving and the feeling of accomplishment.  I loved getting up early even knowing a full day of hard work was ahead because I knew it would be worth it.  I was surrounded by family who showed up every weekend with the same goal: help family.  Looking from my kid eyes at the time, it seemed like everything happened like clockwork.  Everyone shows up ready to work.  Everyone helps everyone.
